A few things you might be wondering.

What can I block?

Both websites and Mac apps. Website blocking works across all browsers, including incognito mode.

Can I edit the predefined website sets?

Yes. Start with sets for adult sites, social networks, or gambling, then add or remove websites from any set. You can also add your own websites and apps.

What’s the difference between soft and hard lock?

Soft lock can be turned off after two confirmations and a one-minute wait. Hard lock is designed to be much harder to bypass: there is no option in the app to turn it off, and killing or deleting the app won’t stop the block. It isn’t a promise that bypassing is impossible.

What if I lock myself out?

Recovery requires contacting us, with a minimum 48-hour delay from your request before a hard lock can be released. Sending an email will not immediately unlock your Mac. The waiting period starts when we receive your request.

How long can a block last?

As little as 10 minutes or as long as forever. You can also select recurring time slots in your week to have blocks turn on according to a schedule.

Does my content go to the cloud?

No. Blocking happens on your computer. Your content and block lists are not sent to servers or the cloud.

Which Macs does Tidewall support?

Tidewall supports macOS 14 Sonoma or later on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Administrator permission is needed to set up system-wide blocking.

Is this a subscription?

No. Tidewall costs $39 USD as a one-time payment.
